What are the steps of a dermal fillers procedure?

Steps of a Dermal Fillers

Dermal filler injections are designed to add volume to the thinning and lax areas of your facial skin. This helps to make your face appear fuller and reduces the effect of wrinkles, creases, and fine lines. During your initial consultation, your med spa injection provider will explain to you the steps involved in the dermal fillers procedure.

The Lounge of Beauty Medical Spa, led by Dr. Solomon Laktineh and Agnes Lech, RN provides safe and innovative skin care, body contouring, laser and medical aesthetic treatments to patients in Long Beach, Torrance, Huntington Beach, Greater Los Angeles, California, and surrounding communities.

Consultation

The first step in your dermal filler treatment process will be a detailed one on one consultation with your med spa injection provider. During the consultation, you can share your exact facial aesthetic concerns and the possible solutions. Your provider will assess your skin condition and determine your candidacy for facial filler injections.

They will explain to you the pros and cons of different types of dermal filler injections to help you make the appropriate selection. Feel free to ask questions during the consultation before going ahead with your facial filler med spa procedure.

Customized Injection Plan

Based on your skin evaluation and your personal aesthetic goals for your facial skin rejuvenation, your provider will prepare a customized injection plan in consultation with you. They will determine the specific areas of your face that require volumizing with filler gel.

Depending on your needs, you may combine two different filler injections in some cases, or choose a “liquid facelift” that combines dermal fillers and Botox. In most cases, the plan will only include one treatment session, but sometimes a follow-up injection treatment may be recommended after a gap of three months.

Facial Cleansing and Numbing

Once you are ready for the injectable treatment, your aesthetician will first cleanse your face thoroughly so that no impurities are present in the areas where injections will be placed. If the dermal filler gel includes lidocaine, you may not require a local anesthetic application.

But if your chosen filler injection is without lidocaine, your provider will apply a topical numbing cream or lotion in the marked areas of your face. This will keep you comfortable during the injection process. The treatment will begin in a few minutes after the anesthetic has taken effect.

Placement of Injections

Your trained med spa treatment provider will use small needles to inject the filler gel at precise skin depths in the targeted areas of your case. Dermal fillers are placed directly in the affected areas for maximum effect. The entire injection process may only last for about 15 to 20 minutes.

Cosmetic filler injection is an outpatient procedure, and you can comfortably receive it at a qualified medical spa. After the treatment, you will be free to return to your workplace, unless you want to take the rest of the day off and allow the minor swelling and redness to subside.
